Hi @Lc221,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Internal processing error" on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e often appears when trying to use the scan-to-email feature due to network or configuration issues. Here are steps you can try to resolve this.

Restart the Printer and Network Devices:

  • Power off the printer, your router, and any device you're using with the printer.
  • Wait for 1-2 minutes, then power on the router first, followed by the printer and your device.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to the same network as your computer. Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s menu to verify connection status.

Check Shortcut Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and go to the Shortcuts section.
  • Edit the shortcut for scanning to email and confirm that all details (e.g., email addresses, server settings) are correct. Try deleting the shortcut and setting it up again if needed.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit HP’s Support website to download the latest firmware for your printer model. Updating the firmware may resolve internal processing errors.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings > Restore Network Settings to reset the network configuration. Then, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Check SMTP Settings (if applicable):

  • If you're using custom SMTP settings for scanning to email, make sure they are correct. These settings can sometimes cause errors if incorrectly configured.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
