Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I recently bought an Omen 25L when my Envy 700 developed a lot of issues. I've had issues with HP smart on my laptop model 17-30365st. My Envy 700 worked fine with it. Since adding the Omen, neither of my computers, nor my Dell work computer will print in color. My Motorola G Force phone prints in color perfectly. The printer is an Envy 4520. I've never had any issues with the printer.

HP's Support Assistant is total garbage.

Any ideas what setting(s) changed?

(I admit the Omen was a mistake. It's pretty much useless compared to the capabilities of the Envy. I'll never buy another computer on line.)

Hi @Codester,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue that might be related to the printer settings on your computers. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Check Printer Settings on Your Computers

  1. Update Printer Drivers:
    • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP Envy 4520. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers.
  2. Check Printer Preferences:
    • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
    • Go to Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Envy 4520 and select Printing Preferences.
    • Ensure that the color option is selected under the Color tab. Sometimes, it may default to grayscale or black & white.
  3. Check HP Smart App Settings:
    • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
    • Go to Printer Settings or Preferences.
    • Ensure that color printing is enabled.

Print a Test Page

  1. From the Printer:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Print Quality Report or Print Test Page. This will help you determine if the issue is with the printer or the computer settings.

Reset Printer Settings

  1. Factory Reset the Printer:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults. Note that this will reset all settings to their defaults.

Reconfigure the Printer

  1. Reinstall the Printer:
    • Remove the printer from your computer’s list of printers.
    • Reinstall the printer using the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check for Software Conflicts:
    • Ensure there are no conflicting printer software or drivers from previous installations that might be causing issues.
  2. Try a Different Application:
    • Sometimes the issue might be specific to the application you are printing from. Try printing from a different application (e.g., Word, Adobe Reader) to see if the issue persists.
  3. Check Network Connection:
    • Ensure your printer and computers are on the same network. Sometimes, connectivity issues can cause printing problems.
  4. Firmware Update:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
