Hi I can’t figure out what I changed my EWS password and username to (can confirm that it’s not “admin”)
All I’ve done so far is “Restore Network Settings” but no success
Attached is what my screen looks like when I’m prompted for the username/password either on the HP Smart app or the website I get taken to when I search my printer’s IP

Hi @BPrinterGuy,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've forgotten the EWS (Embedded Web Server) password and username for your HP ENVY 5055 printer, here are some steps you can try to reset it:
Factory Reset the Printer:
- Perform a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings, including the EWS username and password, to their default values.
- To do this, find the reset button on your printer (usually a small hole that you can press with a paperclip or similar tool). Press and hold it for 5-10 seconds until the printer resets.
Default EWS Username and Password:
- After resetting, try accessing the EWS using the default username and password. For most HP printers, the default username is admin and the default password is admin or blank (no password).
HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- If you're using the HP Smart app, try removing the printer from the app and then re-adding it. During the re-addition process, it may prompt you to set up the printer again, which could help reset the EWS settings.
Manual Configuration:
- If you still cannot access the EWS, you may need to manually configure the printer's network settings using the printer's control panel. Navigate to the network settings and configure the network manually.
Refer to this document: HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer User manual
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
