Hi @Brucens,

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions -

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Also, check if there is any broken parts or jams inside the printer Paper Jam Error

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Tried this. Have seen the Microsoft solution elsewhere. The printer makes the whining noise each time it is turned on , during printing and  initialising as well .  Thanks for your input

We have tried all the troubleshooting steps from our end, I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.

Please reach out to HP Support in your region for further assistance.

Hope this helps!
