HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer

I keep getting an error message on my printer when trying to print. It says "the printer could not connect to web services. The server might be busy or temporarily unavailable. Try again later " it's said this for over a week. I tried troubleshooting myself and following the prompts HP virtual assistant suggested to no avail.

Hi @LanieV1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 has been unable to connect to Web Services for over a week, here are some steps to resolve the issue:

Check Internet Connectivity

  • Ensure the printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  • Run a network test from the printer:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to SetupReportsPrint Network Configuration Page.
    • Look for the Network Status and Signal Strength.

Restart Devices

  • Power cycle the printer, router, and computer:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Restart your router.
    • Wait 2-3 minutes, then turn the printer back on.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware can cause Web Services issues.
  • Manually check for updates:
    • On the printer control panel, go to SetupPrinter MaintenanceUpdate the Printer.

Re-enable Web Services

  • Disable and re-enable Web Services:
    1. On the printer screen:
      • Go to SetupWeb ServicesRemove Web Services.
    2. Restart the printer.
    3. Re-enable Web Services:
      • Go back to SetupWeb ServicesEnable Web Services.

Check Proxy Settings

  • If your network requires a proxy, you need to set it manually.
    • On the printer, go to SetupNetwork SetupAdvanced SettingsProxy Settings.
    • If unsure, check your router settings or contact your ISP.

Reset Network Settings

  • If nothing works, reset network settings:
    • SetupNetwork SetupRestore Network Defaults.
    • Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi and retry Web Services.

 Connect Using Ethernet

  • If you're using Wi-Fi, try connecting the printer via an Ethernet cable to see if it connects to Web Services.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
