OfficeJet Pro 8020

Hello, I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8020and I recently moved to a new area and had to change internet providers. Well, I am trying to setup my printer on my wifi and it is not recognizing the network, even when I manually put it in. It connects when I use an ethernet cable however the router needs to be plugged into a phone jack and there is not a usable one in my office, so I can use it wired instead of as a wireless connection. Please advise on how I can get this resolved. Thank you in advance!

Hi @ElderHarris,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

  • Ensure Proper Network Settings: Double-check that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. Sometimes, a small typo can cause connectivity issues.
  • Restart Printer and Router: Turn off your printer and router. Wait for a few minutes, then turn them back on. This can sometimes help refresh the connection.
  • Wi-Fi Signal Strength: Ensure that the printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router and that there are no physical obstructions blocking the signal.
  • Check Router Settings: Some routers have settings that may prevent certain devices from connecting. Check your router's user manual or interface to ensure that the printer is not blocked.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues and improve overall performance.
  • Factory Reset: If all else fails, you can try performing a factory reset on your printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings to their default values, so you'll need to set up the printer again from scratch.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the connectivity issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8020 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
