Common problems for Connectivity Issues

Out of nowhere, my HP all-in-one Office Jet 9018e printer stopped scanning documents to network folder, despite successfully connecting to the WiFi network. Keeps saying that it can't connect to the network. My shared folder is on a Windows 11 laptop. Tried hard resetting printer, re-installing printer driver and HP Smart, restarting WiFi network and laptop, but nothing helped. I'm able to connect to the printer's IP address successfully. But even testing the scan from there gives me an error - that it can't connect to the network. At a loss on how to fix this and no clue what it would stop suddenly. Printer only a year and a half old. Appreciate some help.

Hi @karunt

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e is having trouble connecting to the network folder despite being connected to Wi-Fi. Let’s work through some steps to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Verify Network Folder Settings

  1. On your Windows 11 laptop, check the shared folder's permissions:
    • Right-click the folder and select Properties.
    • Go to the Sharing tab and ensure the folder is shared with the correct user or group.
    • Verify that the user account has Read/Write permissions.
  2. Confirm the folder path matches the one configured in the printer’s Scan to Network Folder settings.

Step 2: Reconfigure Scan to Network Folder

  1. Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address.
  2. Navigate to Scan > Scan to Network Folder.
  3. Delete the existing network folder profile and create a new one:
    • Enter the correct folder path (e.g., \\LaptopName\SharedFolder).
    • Use the laptop’s username and password for authentication.

Step 3: Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings

  1. Temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus software on your laptop to rule out any blocking issues.
  2. Ensure the printer’s IP address is added to the Allowed Devices list in your firewall settings.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Visit the HP Printer Firmware page and download the latest firmware for the OfficeJet Pro 9018e.
  2. Install the update and restart the printer.

Step 5: Test Connectivity

  1. Try scanning a document to the network folder again.
  2. If the issue persists, test with a different shared folder or another computer to rule out laptop-specific issues.

Let me know how it goes or if you need further guidance! 😊
