HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer
Chrome OS

My Officejet Pro 9015 printer stopped printing mid-job. It now says that an Ethernet cable needs to be connected, but I have *never* used an Ethernet cable to connect this printer.

I have already restored network settings (didn't help) and restarted all devices (didn't help). I do NOT have a wi-fi set up wizard available to me (not appearing in any menu), and the printed diagnostics report says that wireless has been disabled (don't know how, because I've been printing with it for years, including today). I cannot find an option to enable an internet connection on the printer.

How do I fix my printer? Please help!

Hi @Rebecca1121,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 has encountered a network issue where it thinks it should be using an Ethernet connection. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you restore its wireless connection:

Power Cycle Everything:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about a minute.
  • Turn off your router and any other network equipment.
  • Turn everything back on in this order: first the router, then the printer, and finally your computer.

Check Wireless Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup (gear icon) > Network > Wireless Settings. If you don't see the Wireless Settings option, it might be under Network Setup.
  • Make sure that Wireless is turned on. If you don’t see the option to turn it on, it might indicate a deeper issue with the printer’s wireless module.

Use the Printer’s Control Panel to Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • Go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard (if available). This will guide you through connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network. If you don't see this option, it might be hidden or not available due to the network settings being disabled.

Reset Network Settings:

  • If the Wireless Setup Wizard option is missing, you can reset the network settings to their default. Go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults. Confirm the reset, and then try reconnecting to your Wi-Fi network.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Firmware. Follow the prompts to update if necessary.

Reinstall the Printer on Chrome OS:

  • On your Chrome OS device, remove the printer from your list of connected printers.
  • Go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers. Click Add Printer and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 from the list. Follow the prompts to add the printer again.

Check Printer IP Address:

  • On the printer’s control panel, print a Network Configuration page. This will show the IP address of the printer. Ensure the IP address is valid for your network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

None of the steps have worked. As I mentioned in the original post, I tried all of the steps that I had found in previous posts here in the community -- rebooting the router, recycling the power on the printer and all devices, resetting the network connections -- but I have *no option* for setting up the wifi on the printer any more. None of the options for using the printer wirelessly are available via the menu, and I cannot update the firmware because the printer doesn't have an internet connection. I think the printer is dead.
