Grayed out restore and other items on the printer control panel wants password. Will not accept printer pin thats printed on the machine. Cannot do factory reset. When accessing web page most items have a lock on them. There is only one person using this machine and the same one set it up, was working fine. Now this is happening when you print a document it shows in the queue and then disappear, this is when you send a test page or regular print. When ou do a report from the printer it prints fine

Hi @kenneth3jcds ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer Grayed out restore wants a password. Let's address them one by one:
1. Grayed-Out Restore and Password Issues
- Default Printer PIN: If the default printer PIN (often found on a label on the machine) isn't working, it's possible that it was changed previously.
- Password Protection: If the printer control panel and web interface are asking for a password, it might be due to a network or security setting that was enabled. Try these steps:
- Reset Printer Settings: If you can't access the settings via the control panel, try a hard reset. Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Access via Web Interface: Go to the printer's IP address in your web browser. If you see locks on some items, you might need to log in as an administrator. The default login credentials can sometimes be "admin" for both username and password. Check your printer’s manual for any specific default credentials.
- Factory Reset: Since the factory reset option is grayed out, try a different method. For many HP printers, you can perform a factory reset by holding down the "Cancel" and "Wi-Fi" buttons together for a few seconds. Consult the printer's manual for exact instructions.
2. Print Queue Issue
- Clear Print Queue: Go to "Devices and Printers" on your Windows 11 PC, right-click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e printer, and select "See what's printing." If there are any stuck print jobs, cancel them and try printing again.
- Reinstall Printer Driver: Sometimes reinstalling the printer driver can resolve queue issues. Go to the HP website, download the latest driver for your printer, and install it.
3. Printing Test Pages
- Check Printer Settings: If test pages print fine but regular documents don’t, check the printer settings and preferences in the HP Smart app or your printer's settings on your PC. Ensure the correct paper size and type are selected.
- Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can usually check for updates via the printer’s web interface or the HP Smart app. Update the firmware on an HP printer
