If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer is showing an offline status after a Windows update, follow these troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Restart Devices
- Restart the printer: Turn off your HP printer and unplug it for at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart the computer: Restart your computer to ensure any recent system changes from the Windows update are fully applied.
Step 2: Check Printer Connection
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
- For a Wi-Fi connection, make sure the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. If using an Ethernet cable, ensure it is properly connected to both the printer and the router.

- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
- Install and run the tool. Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix the printer offline issue.
Step 4: Set Printer as Default
- Set your printer as the default:
- Go to the “Control Panel” on your computer.
- Select “Devices and Printers.”
- Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer and select “Set as default printer.”
Step 5: Clear Print Queue
- Clear any pending print jobs:
- In the “Devices and Printers” section of the Control Panel, right-click your printer and select “See what’s printing.”

I tried all the suggestions after finding them online. Unfortunately, none of them "fixed" the issue. I use a VPN as an extra security step for consulting work. I paused the VPN for 60 minutes and that cleared the problem. FYI, I suspected the VPN as I've had an issue with it in the past, especially scanning to the all-in-one HP device.
Thanks for the assist.
