Hi,
I have an HP P1102w Printer with AirPrint and Wifi. I set it up, as I would normally, but I encounter the following problem:
It works with USB Connection perfectly.
It also works with Wifi and AirPrint perfectly AFTER I restarted the printer.
But if the printer is not in use for like more than 2 hours, all my devices (windows, macos, ios) cannot find the printer anymore. I have to restart it, and then I can print via WiFi.
Things I already tried: Permanent IP Adress and the functions for sleep mode and turn off mode set to infinite, so it should never fully turn off I guess. I also did the firmware update on a Windows computer.
Is there solution that I'm missing?
Thank you.

Hi @duckyquackie,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP P1102w printer is experiencing connectivity issues after being idle for a certain period. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Update Firmware
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can address connectivity issues and improve overall performance.
2. Configure Static IP Address
- Assign a static IP address to your printer within your router's settings. This ensures that the printer always has the same IP address, which can help with device discovery and connectivity.
3. Check Power Management Settings
- Verify that the printer's power management settings are configured properly to prevent it from entering sleep mode or turning off automatically.
- Set the sleep mode and auto-off settings to longer durations or disable them if possible.
4. Reset Network Settings
- Reset the network settings on your printer to clear any potential network configuration issues.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings or wireless setup menu and look for an option to reset network settings.
5. Ensure Proper Wi-Fi Signal Strength
- Make sure that your printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi router and that the Wi-Fi signal strength is strong enough.
- Consider moving the printer closer to the router if necessary or using a Wi-Fi range extender to improve signal strength.
6. Restart Router Regularly
- Occasionally, Wi-Fi routers can experience issues that affect device connectivity. Try restarting your router regularly to see if it helps maintain a stable connection with your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
