Hi @VELVETFLOWER,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is refusing to connect to Wi‑Fi after moving and switching to Cox internet, and you’re seeing the red and blue lights flashing. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm Wi‑Fi Band Compatibility

Most HP printers only connect to 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi, not 5GHz.

Log into your Cox router and make sure the 2.4GHz band is enabled and broadcasting.

Restart Printer and Router

Power off the printer and unplug the router for 30–60 seconds.

Turn them back on to refresh the network connection.

Enable Wireless Setup Mode on Printer

Press and hold the Wireless button until the blue light starts blinking.

This puts the printer into setup mode so it can be discovered by your router.

Reconnect Using HP Smart App

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.

Select Set Up a New Printer and follow the prompts to connect it to Wi‑Fi.

Check Router Security Settings

Ensure your Wi‑Fi password is entered exactly (case‑sensitive).

Disable advanced features like “guest network,” “MAC address filtering,” or “AP isolation” during setup.

Update Printer Firmware

If possible, connect the printer temporarily via USB to your computer.

Use HP Smart to check for and install firmware updates, which often fix Wi‑Fi issues.

Test Close to Router

Place the printer within a few feet of the router during setup.

Once connected, you can move it back to its usual location.

Verify Connection on Router

Log into your Cox router’s admin page and check if the printer appears in the connected devices list.

If it doesn’t, retry setup with the 2.4GHz band only.

I hope this helps.
