I’ve always been able to print from my iPhone or iPad and laptop with no problems but this morning I keep getting asked for the pin. I’ve got no idea what I’m supposed to put in. Can someone possibly help me please. I’m technically disabled when it comes to this. Thanks

Hi @Ivy-Boss,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is prompting you for a PIN (Personal Identification Number). The PIN is usually used as a security measure to prevent unauthorized access to the printer or to enable certain features.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check the Printer Display:

  • Look at your printer's display or screen for any messages or instructions. It might provide more information about why it's asking for a PIN.

Reset the Printer:

  • Try turning off your printer, waiting for a minute, and then turning it back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.

Printer Manual:

  • Refer to your printer's manual or documentation. It often contains information about default PINs or how to reset the PIN.

Default PINs:

  • Some printers come with default PINs. You can check the printer's manual or look for a default PIN sticker on the printer itself.

Printer Settings on Devices:

  • Check the printer settings on your iPhone, iPad, or laptop to ensure they are configured correctly. Sometimes, a misconfiguration on the device side can cause issues.

Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone, iPad, or laptop. Connectivity issues can sometimes trigger the request for a PIN.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
