Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I noticed on Wednesday that the WiFi light was not lit up on my 5 year old HP OfficeJet 5745 All-in-One Printer. It was late so I decided to mess with it on Thursday. The Printer kept indicating to me that it was online, yet it was not communicating with my computer. I spent two hours on Thursday night trying to get the communication back between my Dell windows 10 OS computer and the printer since there appeared to be a disconnect there. I had no clue what I was doing but decided that maybe the drivers needed an update. I had so many Windows open and had gone down so many rabbit trails that I didn’t know what to do. Quite by miracle, it seemed to be working fine by the time I retired. Then I noticed on Friday night that the WiFi light was not on again. Upon closer inspection, neither was the power light and the control panel display, yet it would print out documents when commanded to do so from my computer. Without a control panel display, the thing will be hard to use. The display lit up for about 5 seconds shortly after something saved to computer was printed  but not when something from the internet was printed. Any suggestions?

Welcome to HP Support Community

I would like to help

Please try these steps

- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

- Wait at least 60 seconds.

- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.

- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Next ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Thank you
