So now, no longer using HP instant ink service, printer is connected (WiFi wireless), prints in que, but will not print due to printer stating - "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink". Both cartridges are HP cartridges.
How do I get my printer back?
Thanks

Hi @Greg4529,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To get your HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer back to printing without the HP Instant Ink service, you'll need to resolve the cartridge enrollment issue. Here's what you can do.
Remove Instant Ink Cartridges:
- Instant Ink cartridges (used while enrolled in the subscription) are tied to the service and won't work once you cancel. Replace these cartridges with regular HP cartridges (non-Instant Ink) bought from a store.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off your printer.
- Unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that the cartridges you're using are standard, non-Instant Ink HP cartridges compatible with the HP ENVY Photo 7858.
Reset Printer’s Network Settings (optional if needed):
- Resetting the printer’s network settings can sometimes help re-establish a fresh connection.
- Go to the printer’s Setup menu, navigate to Network Settings, and reset the network.
Uninstall/Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- On your computer, uninstall the current printer drivers/software.
- Reinstall the latest HP drivers for your printer from HP’s website.
- Make sure the new drivers are for the non-Instant Ink version of the printer.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Sometimes updating the printer’s firmware can help resolve issues.
- Check for updates via the printer’s menu or by downloading the latest firmware from the HP support page.
Note:
If the printer is still showing the error after trying the steps above, you can also perform a factory reset on the printer:
- Go to Setup on the printer display.
- Navigate to Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
