HP Colour Laserjet MFP M283fdw
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

My wife and I run Macs and cannot connect to our HP Printer.  I have set it up and it shows on our wifi but when printing anything, this printer is not shown as an option to print to.

I've shut it down and did the same to both Macs, but although the printer and Macs are on the same network the Macs do not 'see' the Laserjet printer.

I have then registered the printer by it's IP address and it does not register.  however, I tried a couple of times and then it has registered under the IP address.  So have now sent a document to it but the message is "The Printer is not responding."

Can anyone offer any suggestions please as this is, as you may all imaging, very frustrating !!

Thanks a lot,

Basil5502 🙂

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's reset the Printer:

Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the printer and network settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, or tray size. To restore the printer to the factory-default settings, follow these steps. CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. 1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu. 2. Scroll to and select the Service menu. 3. Scroll to and select Restore Defaults, and then touch OK. The printer automatically restarts.

Once done, connect the printer to the Wi-Fi.

Let me know if this helps.
