HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

I recently changed wi-fi networks. I went to put my printer a HP Officejet Pro 8610 onto the new network and apparently years ago when I set it up I locked the settings so they can't be changed. How do I unlock them to change to the new network.

Hi @StepStep29,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To unlock the admin settings on your HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer, you typically need to perform a factory reset. Here's how you can do it.

  • Turn on your printer if it's not already on.
  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the "Settings" or "Setup" menu. The exact wording may vary slightly depending on your printer's model.
  • Look for an option called "Restore Defaults," "Reset All Settings," or something similar. Select this option.
  • Confirm that you want to reset the printer to its factory default settings. This action will erase all customized settings, including the admin lock, so make sure you're okay with losing any personalized configurations.
  • Once the reset is complete, your printer should restart. After it boots up again, you'll need to set it up as if it were brand new, including connecting it to your new Wi-Fi network.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network. You may need to enter your new network's SSID and password during this process.

After completing these steps, your printer should be unlocked, and you should be able to change its settings, including connecting it to a new Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
