HP DeskJet Plus 4158 All-in-One Printer

All of a sudden, when I try to print from my phone to my  all in one, I can see on the screen that it the printer is there I click on it and then you get the little spinning wheel and then it disappears like it just can’t hook up to it. I’ve already turned everything off and on, so what is the problem?

I understand your HP DeskJet Plus 4158 is having trouble maintaining a connection with your phone. 

 

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

 

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that both your phone and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, devices can get disconnected or switch networks unintentionally.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP website.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your phone. Outdated apps can sometimes cause connectivity issues.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off your printer, router, and phone. Wait for a few moments, then power them back on. This can help reset network connections.

Reinstall Printer:

  • Remove the printer from the list of available devices on your phone and then re-add it using the HP Smart app.

Check for Interference:

  • Make sure there are no obstructions or electronic devices causing interference between your phone and the printer.

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • You can try resetting the printer’s network settings and reconnecting it to your Wi-Fi network. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a network reset.

Check Printer Status:

  • Verify that the printer is not showing any error messages or issues that might prevent it from connecting.
