Hi @Magpye58,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with your reconditioned HP Envy 2020e printer. The "Optimize and Print" message followed by blank pages can be caused by a few different issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.

  1. Check Ink or Toner Levels: Make sure that your printer has enough ink or toner. If it's running low or empty, this could be the reason for blank pages.

  2. Printer Software: Ensure that you have the correct printer drivers and software installed on your computer. You can download the latest drivers and software from the HP website.

  3. Printer Queue: Check the print queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. Sometimes, a print job might be stuck, preventing new ones from being processed.

  4. Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. If there are connection issues, this could cause problems with printing. You may need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

  5. Paper and Print Settings: Make sure you have the correct paper size and type selected in your printer settings. Also, check the print settings to make sure they are appropriate for your document.

  6. Test Page: Print a test page from your computer to see if it comes out blank. If it does, it's likely a problem with the printer or its ink/toner. If it doesn't print at all, there may be a software issue.

  7. Printer Maintenance: Run a printer maintenance routine, if available in the printer's menu. This can help clear any clogs or issues with the print heads.

  8. Clean Print Heads: If the printer has been sitting unused for a while, the print heads may be clogged. Consult your printer's manual on how to clean the print heads.

  9. Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi. I have printed test pages and also documents. Both ink cartridges  are new. The problem I have is when I want to print photos. If I print directly from my mobile for documents it's fine, but when I go through the HP app for photos it just comes up with print and the printer needs optimising. I press this but nothing happens. I do wait a minute or so, but nothing prints. What does it mean by optimising the printer.  The photo paper comes out blank when I press print option on the printer, but as the photo paper comes through it sounds as though it is printing  but it's not. Really hard to explain not very good at it.  It's all to do with optimising the printer I think. Thank you
