@Dakota9, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Have you tried using alternate flash drives?

HP has fully tested the following USB flash drives with the printer:

• Kingston: Data Traveler 100 USB 2.0 flash drive (4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB)

• Lexar JumpDrive Traveller: 1 GB

• Imation: 1 GB USB Swivel

• Sandisk: Ultra Titanium plus USB Flash Drive 4 GB

• HP: 8 GB HI.SPEED USB flash drive v100w

NOTE: You might be able to use other USB flash drives with the printer. However, HP cannot guarantee that they correct functionality with the printer because they have not been fully tested.

This looks like an issue with the USB port on the printer. It is not related to the licence. Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
