For some reason 9 days ago my printer disconnected from my network (my network has 2.4, so it’s not that) I have tried numerous times to reconnect with no luck. My router shows it as a device (just not a connected one) and the printer (envy 7855) sees the router listed, but it won’t connect.

Hi @Euctruck ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer. It sees the router but won't connect, here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Devices

  • Printer: Turn it off, unplug it from the power source, wait 1-2 minutes, and plug it back in.
  • Router: Restart your router by unplugging it for 1-2 minutes and plugging it back in.
  • Computer/Phone: Restart the device you're using to configure the printer.

2. Check Network Details

  • Ensure your printer and router are on the same 2.4 GHz network (some routers have separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
  • Verify that your network isn't using special characters in the SSID or password, which can sometimes cause issues.

3. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  2. Select your network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password.
  3. If it fails, note any error messages or codes displayed.

4. Re-add the Printer in the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app.
  • Open the app, select Add Printer, and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer.

5. Assign a Static IP Address

  • On the printer control panel:
    1. Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > IP Address Configuration.
    2. Select Manual and assign a static IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.100, assuming your router uses the 192.168.1.x range).
  • Log into your router settings and reserve this IP address for your printer.

6. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure MAC address filtering is disabled on your router or that the printer’s MAC address is allowed.
  • Make sure the number of connected devices hasn’t exceeded your router's limit.

7. Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • Try reconnecting to the network using the Wireless Setup Wizard again.

8. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Connect your printer temporarily using a USB cable to your computer.
  • Visit the HP Customer Support page to download and install any firmware updates for your printer.

9. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons simultaneously while turning the printer back on.
  • Release the buttons when the printer powers up and reattempt the setup.

10. Test Connection

  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's control panel (Settings > Reports > Wireless Network Test) to identify any specific issues.
