Hi @Eleanor63,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 8015e stuck in setup mode. This issue can happen if the initial setup process isn't completed properly or if there's an internal error.
Here are some steps to try:
1. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
2. Complete the Setup Using HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Ensure the printer is connected to your computer or mobile device via Wi-Fi or USB.
- Open the HP Smart app on your device.
- Follow the prompts to complete the setup process. If the printer setup appears incomplete, the app should guide you through the steps required to finish it.
If you don’t have the HP Smart app installed:
- Download it here and install it.
- Once installed, follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
3. Reset the Printer
If restarting and using the HP Smart app don't work, you can try resetting the printer:
- On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon (a gear-shaped icon) if it appears on the home screen.
- Navigate to Restore Defaults or Restore Network Settings.
- Confirm to reset the printer and restart it.
4. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the Internet.
- From the control panel, access Printer Maintenance and then select Update Printer to ensure you have the latest firmware installed.
5. Manual Setup
If the setup via the HP Smart app still fails, try manually setting up your printer:
- From the printer screen, press Settings > Printer Setup and follow any instructions that appear.
- If you see an option for Network Setup, try setting up Wi-Fi manually using your network details.
Refer to this document: HP OfficeJet 8015e All-in-One Printer User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
