Hi @Tootall92,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with connectivity or configuration issues with your new printer that require frequent reboots to function properly. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve these issues:

1. Check Printer Connectivity:

Wired vs. Wireless:

  • Ensure that if you’re using a wired connection, the cables are securely connected.
  • If you’re using a wireless connection, ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or device.

Network Stability:

  • Verify that your Wi-Fi network is stable and that there are no interruptions or weak signals in the area where your printer is located.

2. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

Firmware Update:

  • Go to the HP Support website or your printer manufacturer’s website and check for any firmware updates for your printer model. Firmware updates can resolve connectivity issues.

Driver Update:

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. Visit the manufacturer’s website to download and install the latest drivers for your operating system.

3. Configure Printer Settings:

Set as Default Printer:

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel or Settings and set your new printer as the default printer.
  • Windows: Go to Devices and Printers or Printers & Scanners and right-click on your printer to select Set as default printer.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the printer is set to Online and not in Offline mode. You can check this in the printer settings on your computer.

4. Review Printer and Network Settings:

Check IP Address:

  • If you’re using a wireless connection, check if the printer’s IP address is correctly configured. Sometimes, an incorrect IP address can cause connection issues.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • Reconfigure the network settings on your printer to ensure it is correctly connected to your Wi-Fi network. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to reconnect it to your network.

5. Check Power Settings:

  • Power Management:
    • Ensure that the printer is not set to enter a power-saving mode that might disrupt connectivity. Check the power management settings on your printer and adjust them if necessary.

6. Restart Devices:

  • Restart Printer and Computer:
    • Restart both your printer and computer to reset any temporary issues that might be affecting connectivity.

7. Reinstall Printer:

  • Remove and Reinstall:
    • Remove the printer from your computer’s list of printers and then reinstall it. This can resolve issues related to outdated settings or drivers.
    • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Remove device. Then, add the printer again using the Add a printer or scanner option.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
