My printer is connected to the same wireless network as my computer and my phone but I can only print to my HP Envy 6458 printer through the HP Smart app. I cannot print from my email or a browser from either device.

We can only guess whether you are running Windows on your computer --
True - HP Smart supports scan and print on supported phones (running a supported Operating System).
There are generally additional options for Mobile devices, though what you can do still depends on the device (phone) and the Operating System. Check your Mobile device "Apps Store" for scan and print applications other than HP Smart.

Then
There are options for supported versions of Windows, including installing the full driver printer software.
Installing the printer software supports additional print options, including printing from your Browser, from within Word, and using other scan and print programs.

Install Printer Software
The differences can between the full driver and the Universal Scan software are subtle but important.
The Full Solution software is the full driver printer software.
The full driver printer software is the software used with "Scan to Computer".
Details are included later in this message.
Reinstalling?
- Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
- If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
- Restart the computer and log in.
- If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

In general, the web pack should load -
Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator
If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.
Using USB? (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.
After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver
If asked, opt for the Full Driver to be installed.
After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.
Note: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.
- Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
- HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
- HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model
- When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut

Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
