HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

AT&T Internet support had to reconfigure our home network recently to resolve a connection problem. We have 5 devices on our 2,4t and 5.0g networks: my iPhone, the TV (DirecTV bundled with AT&T Internet on HDML3 and an Amazon Fire Stick on HDML 1 for watching Netflix, etc.), 2 HP laptops (mine and my husbands), and the HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-In-One Printer (that will only function in our house on a 2.4g network). Before the Internet reconfiguration, both laptops were connected on the 2.4g network to the HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-In-One Printer. The laptops are typically used at opposite ends of the house. I noticed tonight that my laptop could not find the printer. I tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and it could not find my laptop either. I remembered that I had downloaded the HP App on my laptop, so I tried that. The HP Virtual Agent steered me into selecting the HP PDF Print method, and I installed it on my laptop. I was able to print after that. There was a note to make sure that if a wireless network was used that I was connected to the same network on the printer and the laptop. I could not see any instructions on how to make sure the HP PDF Print was printing from my laptop via the 2.4t bandwidth on our home network. Next, I tried to go through the same process to connect my husband's laptop to the printer also (the first step is to uninstall the printer from the laptop, which I did just as I had done with my laptop). But not, not only can the printer not find my husband's laptop, but also when I follow the instructions to add a new printer to his laptop, I get a message saying I need to enter his network password, which I don't recall if I ever knew it (nor does he). None of the other alternative methods of adding a new printer to his laptop work, either. How do I check to see if my laptop is still accessing our printer via the 2.4g bandwidth on our home network; and how can I add my husband's laptop back into our home network without knowing his network password?  The Control Panel Network and Internet section does not give us an option of selecting a new network password for him. Meanwhile, he cannot print directly from his laptop until I get this problem resolved. We both have HP laptops: his is an HP Envy x360 and mine is an HP Envy 17m--ae1xx. Thank you for your replies and any help you can provide to me on this problem.

Hi @techieenvy,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are unable to print and would like to know the network the computer is connected to.

To check the network on your computer -

Please click on the Wi-Fi icon the right hand corned of the printer and click on the properties on the seleted network to know the newtork band it is connected to

To assist better -

What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?

 Keep me posted.
