Hi @JACKTON

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It seems like you're facing two separate issues: SSL certificate concerns for your HP ENVY 4520 and connectivity problems with your new HP Chromebook.

Let me address both:

1. SSL Certificate for HP ENVY 4520:

  • Why the SSL Certificate Issue Occurs: When accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS), your browser might flag the connection as untrusted due to a self-signed certificate.
  • Solution:
    1. Open the printer's EWS by entering its IP address in a web browser.
    2. Navigate to the Network Settings or Security section.
    3. Generate a new self-signed certificate or upload a trusted certificate if you have one.
    4. Add the certificate to your computer's trusted root certificate authorities to avoid warnings.
  • For detailed steps, you can refer to this guide.

2. To connect your HP Envy 4520 printer to your HP Chromebook, follow these steps:

Ensure Both Devices Are on the Same Network:

  • Make sure your printer and Chromebook are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Add the Printer to Chromebook:

  • On your Chromebook, go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers.
  • Click Add Printer and select your HP Envy 4520 from the list. If it doesn't appear, click Add Manually and enter the printer's IP address (you can find this on the printer's control panel).

Use HP Print for Chrome:

  • Install the HP Print for Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. This allows you to print directly from the Chrome browser.

Update Chrome OS:

  • Ensure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS for compatibility.

Check Printer Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Network Settings and confirm the Wi-Fi connection.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
