Message stating payment card expired update .

The email before this was HP decided I would use 45 sheets a month which is absurd so I didnt renew my card and now my printer wont work .

Does this actually mean that HP control MY printer and the ink I have paid for I have not got access to and the same applies to MY printer ?

This surely  cannot be true

Welcome to the HP Community.

I am sorry you are upset.

What to do?

Remove all the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer.

Purchase and install a new set of HP ink for your printer.

All Instant Ink Cartridges are only provided during an active subscription.

These should be returned to HP for proper disposal.

(No, HP won't track you down for the cartridges...)

Read your Terms of Service contract for details and Instant Ink Support contact information.

Longer Explanation

No, HP is not controlling your printer.

HP Instant Ink subscription does control access to the Instant Ink Cartridges.

Ink is supplied as part of the Print-by-Page subscription plan.

Instant Ink cartridges are not yours to keep.

HP retains ownership of the cartridges.

After the subscription is terminated - regardless of how that termination is processed -

All the Instant Cartridges will lock and will no longer work in any printer.

What?

All of this and more is explained in the Terms of Service Contract that governs the subscription, the plans, and the cancellation / termination process.
