For anyone unable to update their billing using IOS (iPhone, iPad) i.e. cannot select an banking authentication method (app or OTP) I had the same problem and couldn't find a way round it. In the end I used a laptop. HP need to review the UX for using the smart ink and do some thorough user acceptance testing - this has clearly not been done end to end.
