Hi @kjamtx57

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when your Envy 6100e series printer shows a configuration problem even after setup. Let’s go step by step to refresh the connection and clear the error.

Step 1: Power reset

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear.
  • Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord back into the wall outlet directly (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reconnect to the printer and power it on.

Step 2: Check paper and cartridges

  • Make sure paper is loaded correctly in the tray and the guides are snug.
  • Open the cartridge access door and reseat both cartridges firmly.
  • Close the door and confirm the printer shows “Ready.”

Step 3: Reconnect the printer in the HP App

  • Open the HP App on your computer or mobile device.
  • Select “+” to add your printer again.
  • Follow the prompts to connect it to your Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure you enter the correct Wi-Fi name and password.
  • Wait until the wireless light on the printer turns solid blue.

Step 4: Update firmware

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  • Check for firmware updates and install if available.
  • This ensures the printer communicates correctly with your network and cartridges.

Step 5: Run a test print

  • From the HP App, select Print a test page.
  • If the page prints successfully, the configuration problem is resolved.

By reseating cartridges, refreshing the power, and reconnecting through the HP App, you give the printer a clean start. Firmware updates often clear lingering configuration errors.
