HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e All-in-One Printer

I recently added Windows 11 upgrade to my PC.  I had a new router & network added b/c my router went up.   I went to print something the next day and now my Printer doesn't connect.  It's asking me for a user/password to unlock my printer.  I don't have that information and therefore cannot connect to my new wifi network.  How to I reset or bypass this?   I already rebooted my router and my printer but no success.  Please help before i just purchase a new printer.

Thank you

Hi @Eljay1971,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e asking for a user/password to connect to your new network, you can try the following steps.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup.
  • Select Printer Maintenance or Tools (depending on your model).
  • Choose Restore Factory Defaults or Factory Reset.
  • Confirm the action and follow the on-screen instructions.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • After resetting, the printer should be returned to its default settings. You’ll need to set up the network connection again.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup.
  • Select Network Setup or Wireless Setup.
  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard to search for and connect to your new WiFi network.
  • Follow the prompts to enter your WiFi network details.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check this through the HP Smart app or HP’s website.

HP Smart App:

  • If you have the HP Smart app installed, it can guide you through the setup process.
  • Open the HP Smart app, select Set Up a New Printer, and follow the instructions to connect to your new network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
