I assume it is just going to sleep.  If the 2800 is one of those energy efficient printers there is no way to prevent it from sleeping.  I have a canon printer that is also "energy rated" and I have to press the online button to wake it up.,

 

Access the printers embedded web page and set sleep to off or never.

Click here to see an example of turning off sleep.

 

If it wakes up from sleep and is off line that is a different problem.  Let me know.
