Hi @Joeandpat50
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your Wi-Fi is updated by your internet provider (in this case, AT&T), it can sometimes cause connection issues with your printer. This is because the Wi-Fi network name (SSID), password, or network settings may have changed, and your printer is still trying to connect to the old Wi-Fi settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reconnect your HP DeskJet 3051A to the updated Wi-Fi network:
1. Check Your Wi-Fi Settings
Before reconnecting the printer, make sure you have the correct Wi-Fi settings:
- Network Name (SSID): Ensure you know the updated name of your Wi-Fi network.
- Password: Make sure you have the updated Wi-Fi password.
2. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi
You’ll need to reconnect your HP DeskJet 3051A to the new Wi-Fi network. Here’s how to do that:
Using the Printer’s Control Panel (Wireless Setup):
Turn on the Printer and make sure it’s ready (the power light should be on).
Press the Wireless button on the printer’s control panel. This will start the wireless setup process.
If the Wireless button is not visible, you can also try the Settings or Setup menu depending on the printer model.
Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button (or the Wi-Fi setup button, depending on the model) for a few seconds. This will activate the printer’s Wireless Setup Wizard.
The printer will search for available wireless networks. When the list of networks appears, select your new Wi-Fi network (the updated SSID from AT&T) and enter the Wi-Fi password.
Once the printer successfully connects, the Wireless light on the printer should stop blinking and remain solid. This indicates that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
Alternative Method (WPS Setup):
If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can use this method to connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network without manually entering the password.
Press the WPS button on your AT&T router (usually located on the back or side of the router).
Within two minutes, press and hold the Wireless button on your printer for about 5 seconds.
The printer will automatically try to connect to the network using the WPS method. When it’s successful, the Wireless light will stay solid.
3. Update Printer Settings on Your Computer
Once the printer is reconnected to the Wi-Fi network, you may need to update the printer settings on your computer.
For Windows:
- Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Find your HP DeskJet 3051A printer in the list. If it’s not listed, click Add a printer or scanner and let Windows search for your printer.
- Select the printer when it appears and click Add Device.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
