I have a Smartank 570 series printer connected to a Mercusys mesh network. It has worked fine for a few years now, but in the last few weeks it has disconnected from the wifi after not being used for a day or 2. The only work around I have had is to reset the WiFi settings in the printer and set it up again each time I use it. Has anyone had any experience of a similar issue?

Try these steps:

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Firmware updates can resolve connectivity issues. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or HP's support website.

Mesh Network Configuration:

  • Verify the settings on your mesh network. Sometimes firmware updates or settings in the mesh network can affect how devices connect. Make sure that the printer is getting a stable connection and that the mesh points are not switching excessively.
  • Check if the mesh network’s settings include any energy-saving modes that may disconnect devices automatically.

Static IP Address:

  • Assign a static IP address to your printer in your router settings. This prevents the printer from acquiring a new IP address which can sometimes cause disconnections.

Wi-Fi Channel Update:

  • Adjust the Wi-Fi channel in your router settings. Different channels can minimize interference and improve connectivity.

Network Compatibility:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) recognized by your printer. HP printers typically work better on a 2.4GHz network due to its broader range compatibility.

Printer Network Settings Reset:

  • Perform a network settings reset on your printer and reconnect it to your mesh network, ensuring that the latest settings are applied. This sometimes helps with recurring disconnection issues.

Power Cycle Mesh Network:

  • Once in a while, network devices benefit from a complete power cycle. Turn off your mesh network and all devices for a few minutes, then restart them. This can clear temporary glitches that affect connectivity.

I've manually set the IP address, turned off 5ghz wifi (on the printer) and ipv6. It is working for now but ill keep and eye in it for the next few days
