Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Color LaserJet MFP M282fdw that was working fine on Wireless and use of Extender.  However, today I'm unable to connect to this printer and have tried removing and readding with no luck.  Printer shows device is on the same network as PC but not installed.  I have tried original CD software, downloading software and none can be installed.  I have rebooted the router and WIFI extender, no luck.

Hi @BJWOOD

Welcome to the HP Support Community. It is a great way to post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I see that your HP Printer is not connecting to the wi-fi network.

Please follow the steps listed below to connect using USB cable and then change it to wireless.

Step 1: Connect using USB cable:

Please follow the steps in this document to connect the printer using the USB cable.

Step 2: Change from a USB connection to wireless:

Before changing from a USB connection to wireless, make sure that:

- The printer is connected to your computer with the USB cable until you are prompted to disconnect the cable.

- The computer is connected to the wireless network that you intend to install the printer on.

1. Open the HP printer software (From the computer desktop, click Start, select All apps, click HP, and then select the icon

with the printer’s name).

2. In the printer software, click Tools.

3. Click Device Setup & Software.

4. Select Convert a USB connected printer to wireless. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Please follow the steps in this document to change from a USB connection to a wireless network.

Let me know if this works.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your reply and assistance Rainbow23.  I got the printer working once I was able to get all the devices talking on the same network.  Take care.
