Wireless printer detects home wifi, but can't enter password (Officejet 8028)

HP OfficeJet Pro 8028

Setting up new printer for wireless printing at home. In the Setup Wizard, the printer recognizes my network but tries to connect without an password, thus fails to connect. It doesn't even give the option of entering a password. The printer detects my neighbors' networks and lets me enter a password for those when I select that option.

Is this a router issue? A security issue?

A clue:

1. My home network does not have a lock symbol under the network bars. My neighbors' networks do show the lock symbol.

Thanks in advance.

@SnowCreature, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Your home network needs to be password protected for the printer to connect. It cannot be an open network.

Refer to the document Connect to a Wireless HP Printer for alternate connectivity methods.

If you still have issues, use the guided troubleshooter Troubleshooting | Wireless Printing Center for instruction to isolate and resolve the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
