HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

HP Envy 5000 wireless radio is not functioning. Sometimes it shows as available and other times it doesn’t. When I check my home network it shows that it’s connected to WiFi even though it says it’s not available when trying to print. I did a network reset and  I still have the same issue.  It’s connected by WiFi and not directly connected to my computer

Hi @StaticVince ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5055 is experiencing intermittent issues with its wireless connection.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to address the issue:

1. Restart Printer, Router, and Computer

  • Power off the printer, router, and computer.
  • Unplug the router for about 10-15 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Wait for the router to fully restart, then turn the printer and computer back on.
  • Reconnect the printer to your WiFi network by using the printer control panel.

2. Check Wireless Settings on the Printer

  • On your printer’s control panel, access the Wireless Settings and ensure that the Wireless Radio is turned on.
  • Run the Wireless Network Test from the printer’s settings menu to check if there are any issues with the connection.

3. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Sometimes, wireless issues can be resolved with a firmware update. To check for updates:

  • Open the HP Smart app or go to HP Support website, and check for any available firmware updates for your HP ENVY 5055.

4. Assign a Static IP Address to the Printer

Assigning a static IP address can help prevent connection drops.

  • Open your router’s settings and assign a static IP address for your printer (you can refer to your router's manual for instructions on how to do this).
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > IP Settings, and enter the static IP address.

5. Reset the Network Settings on Printer

If the issue persists, you can try a full network reset:

  • Go to your printer’s Settings > Network Settings and choose the option to Restore Network Settings.
  • Reconnect the printer to your WiFi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

6. Check Router Settings

  • Make sure the printer is on the 2.4 GHz band, as most HP printers do not support 5 GHz networks.
  • Ensure there are no MAC address filters or firewall settings on your router blocking the printer from connecting.

7. Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer Software

  • Uninstall the printer software from your Windows 11 computer.
  • Download the latest printer software from the HP Support website.
  • Reinstall the software and try connecting the printer again.

8. Use a USB Cable Temporarily

If the issue is urgent and you need to print something immediately, you can connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable to bypass the WiFi connection for the time being.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I haven’t tried your suggestion yet. I’m waiting for the upgraded router from Xfinity which will be delivered tomorrow. I wanted to mention that I’ve been getting security warnings when I print from my iPhone and iPad. Says “the printer appears to be a different printer than previously the previously used printer with the same name or the connection may not be trustworthy “   I don’t get them every time I print and don’t get them when using a laptop that’s running windows 11.
