HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer

HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e updated itself today.

Printer provided a message indicating that Firmware had been updated. After that, got a warning that installed instant-ink cartridges were for printers enrolled in the instant-ink program (which it is). Further warning that the internet is unavailable (and the blue connectivity light on the front panel was off).

i have hardwired ethernet to the router.

Rebooted the printer - same problem.

Removed the ethernet cable and let the printer connect wirelessly; everything works fine.

Did this latest firmware update bork the ability to use hard-wired ethernet?

It sounds like the latest firmware update may have affected the printer’s ability to connect via Ethernet. Since the printer connects fine over Wi-Fi but not through the wired connection, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Ethernet Cable & Port:

  • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the router.
  • Try using a different Ethernet cable or plugging into a different port on the router.

Restart Network Devices:

  • Power cycle your router and modem.
  • Disconnect the printer from power for about 2 minutes before turning it back on.

Verify Network Settings on Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wired Settings and ensure it’s set to Enable Ethernet.
  • Check if the printer is getting an IP address from the router (Setup > Reports > Print Network Configuration Page). If not, it may not be properly communicating with the network.

Manually Assign an IP Address:

  • If the printer is not getting an IP address automatically, try assigning a static IP address in the printer settings under Network Setup.

Update or Roll Back Firmware (if possible):

  • Check HP Support to see if a newer firmware update is available to fix Ethernet connectivity issues.
  • Some HP printers allow rolling back to a previous firmware version, but it depends on the model.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults, then set up Ethernet again.

I hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
