My printer says I’m connected but won’t print. I get an error message that says “cannot print. Contact the webstie”. Super frustrating.

@Molly1972, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer Connection Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your printer indicates that it's connected but isn't printing, and you're receiving an error message instructing you to contact a website, there are several potential solutions you can consider:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. For network-connected printers, ensure that the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is active and stable.
  • If using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and computer, wait a few moments, and then turn them on again. This can often resolve connectivity issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that your printer drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer to check for any stuck print jobs. Cancel or clear the queue to reset the printing process.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • Check your printer settings to ensure that the correct printer is set as the default in your computer’s settings.

Check for Error Codes:

  • Note any specific error codes displayed on the printer or computer, as these can provide more detailed information about the issue.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
