Hi @Susi4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 4520 All-In-One Printer is not appearing on your computer, there could be several reasons for this issue.

Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the problem:

  • Check Physical Connections: Ensure that the printer is powered on and properly connected to your computer via a USB cable (if it's a wired connection) or connected to the same Wi-Fi network (if it's a wireless printer). Also, check for any loose connections.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connection issues. Turn off both your computer and printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.
  • Printer Queue Check: It's possible that there are pending print jobs or an error in the print queue. Open the print queue on your computer and check if there are any stuck print jobs or errors. Clear the print queue if necessary.
  • Printer Drivers: If the printer drivers are outdated or corrupted, it can lead to connectivity problems. Visit the official HP website, find the drivers section, and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Install the drivers on your computer and try reconnecting the printer.
  • Check Printer's Network Connection: If you are using a wireless printer, make sure it is still connected to the Wi-Fi network. You may need to access the printer's settings to verify the Wi-Fi connection.
  • Firewall/Antivirus Interference: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings may block printer connections. Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software to check if they are causing the issue. If the printer is detected after disabling them, you may need to adjust their settings to allow printer connections.
  • USB Port/Printer Cable: If you are using a USB connection, try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer or try using a different USB cable.
  • Update Operating System: Make sure your computer's operating system is up to date. Sometimes, outdated OS versions can cause compatibility issues with printers.
  • Check for Conflicting Software: Certain software or applications on your computer might conflict with the printer. Try to identify if any recently installed software could be causing the problem.
  • Run Printer Troubleshooter: Most operating systems have built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix common printer issues. Run the printer troubleshooter to see if it can resolve the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
