I have just changed my internet provider to T-mobile and is now a cell phone internet vs cable internet and am trying to connect my printer to the cell. I am currently connected by USB hard wire to the internet box, priinter and computer.
Not sure how to keep the connection when I unplug them.

Hi @Fred077,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're switching from a wired connection to a wireless one for your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer, here's how you can set it up to work with your T-Mobile cell phone internet.
Steps to Connect Wirelessly:
Prepare the Printer:
- Make sure your printer is turned on.
- Ensure it is in a ready state, with no error messages on the display panel.
Connect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- Press the Wireless icon or open the Wireless settings from the printer's control panel.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password (if required) using the printer's keypad.
- Confirm and apply the settings.
Verify Connection:
- After entering your Wi-Fi credentials, the printer will attempt to connect to your T-Mobile network.
- Once connected, the Wireless icon on the printer should show a steady, blue light.
Update Printer Software (Optional):
- It's a good idea to ensure your printer has the latest firmware.
- You can usually do this from the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.
After Connecting:
Install HP Smart App:
- On your computer or mobile device, install the HP Smart app.
- The app will help you manage printing tasks, scan, and check printer status wirelessly.
Connect Computer:
- If you were using a USB cable to connect your printer to the computer, you can now connect wirelessly.
- Install the HP Smart app on your computer and follow the prompts to add your printer.
Troubleshooting:
- If you face issues:
- Restart your printer and router.
- Ensure the Wi-Fi signal is strong where the printer is located.
- Check for any firewall settings on your router that might block printer communication.
By following these steps, your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 should be set up to work wirelessly with your T-Mobile cell phone internet.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
