fax

i have a 4630 office jet and I am trying to set up fax. i have a line coming from wall jack and then going into "1-line" . when i send fax it say no answer. When I run report it reads " remove phone cord from port labeled "2-EXT" and connect to port labeled "1-Line' . However cord is plugged into "1-line"

@4ladykaye, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Do you have an answering machine connected to 2-Ext or is the port left empty?

What happens if you connect the phone line to the 2-Ext port? Check the same and print a report or send a fax.

 

For more info on how to setup fax, refer to this document. Make sure you are using a 2-wire cable.

 

Also, to test the fax functionality, you may send a test fax to HP 

Send a one-page black and white text fax to 1-888-HPFaxme (1-888-473-2963). When the service receives your fax, a return confirmation fax is sent within five minutes. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax.
