@CH09, Thanks for the update, and great job following the earlier steps! Based on your latest message and the screenshots, here’s what we know:

  • Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 shows “Status: Not connected” in both Printer and Network Information.
  • You were able to print reports via HP Smart, which means the printer hardware is working.
  • You can print via USB, but Wi-Fi printing from your iPad fails, confirming a network connectivity issue.

Let’s now focus on restoring wireless connectivity so your devices can print over Wi-Fi.

Final Steps to Resolve "Not Connected" Status

1. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

Even if you've done this before, please try again:

  • On the printer control panel, go to: Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  • Wait for confirmation that the printer is connected.

2. Check IP Address

  • Print a Network Configuration Page again.
  • Look for:
    • IP Address: Should be something like 192.168.x.x
    • Connection Type: Should say Wireless
    • If it says Disconnected, the printer is still not on the network.

3. Assign Static IP (Recommended)

  • Log into your router (usually via 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 in a browser).
  • Find the printer in the connected devices list.
  • Assign a static IP to the printer (e.g., 192.168.1.200).
  • Reboot the printer and router.

4. Re-add Printer in HP Smart

  • Open HP Smart on your computer and iPad.
  • Remove the old printer entry.
  • Tap “+” to add the printer again.
  • Select the printer with the correct IP address.

5. Update Firmware

6. Enable AirPrint (for iPad)

  • Make sure your printer supports AirPrint (it does).
  • Ensure both iPad and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Try printing from a native app like Safari or Notes.

Optional: Reset Network Settings

If the above steps don’t work:

  • On the printer, go to: Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings
  • Then reconnect using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have a great day.

@CH09, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand you're seeing "Network Connection not Available" on your printer and "Printer Offline" in the HP Smart app. Let's walk through some steps to get your printer and computer communicating again.

Check Printer's Network Connection

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
  • Ensure Wi-Fi is turned ON.
  • Run Wireless Network Test (if available) to check signal strength and connection status.

Restart Devices

  • Power off your printer, computer, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on in this order: router → printer → computer.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer, go to Wireless Setup Wizard (under Wireless Settings).
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  • Confirm the printer gets a valid IP address (you can print a Network Configuration Page to check).

Check HP Smart App

  • Open HP Smart on your computer or mobile device. HP Smart
  • If the printer shows as offline, click “+” to re-add it.
  • Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

Assign a Static IP (Optional but Recommended)

  • Log into your router and assign a static IP to the printer.
  • This prevents the IP from changing and helps maintain a stable connection.

Update Printer Firmware

Final Tips

  • Ensure your firewall or antivirus isn’t blocking HP Smart or printer communication.
  • If using a dual-band router, connect both printer and PC to the same band

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!

After running HP Smart I get these

Printer Information

CH09_1-1754529067314.jpeg

Network information

I attempted to print some pages but they did not print.

Print queue

However when I went into Printer Reports in HP Smart I was able to print the Customer Service Report and the Network Configuration Report.

The only way I have been able to print from my computer is connecting the computer to the printer by a BSB-A to a BSB-B cable.

I can print files from my iPad via the printers wifi connection.

Problem is solved but I did deviated from your list.

I got through to step 2 and printed the Network Configuration Page. All good but not able to print still.

Went windows ‘Devices and Printers it showed two printers with identical names, one with a bright icon, other with a light icon. Looked at their print queues. A double click got them, the faint icon printer had files listed (my attempts at printing) the other had nothing.

Decided to remove the light icon printer right click chose 'remove the device'.

Tried to print from the other. An error message came up suggesting I make sure the printer was selected. It wasn’t (something called Evernote was) I was able to select my printer.

Print and voila! it worked.

Thanks for the help Max3Aj, between us we got there.

@CH09, That’s a fantastic outcome, and well spotted on the duplicate printer entries! 🎯

Removing the inactive device and setting the correct one as default often resolves those mysterious “offline” issues, especially when print jobs get stuck in the wrong queue. Your method was spot-on and a great tip for others facing similar problems.

Happy printing! 🖨😊
