Hi @grahame14

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s frustrating! If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960/6962 isn’t being recognized by your PC, let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to get it connected.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Step 1: Check Physical Connections

  • If using USB, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and PC.
  • If using Wi-Fi, confirm the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Try a different USB port or cable if using a wired connection.

Step 2: Restart Devices

  • Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Restart your computer and router.

Step 3: Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Manage > Run the Troubleshooter.

Step 4: Manually Add the Printer

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Click Add a Printer.
  3. Select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  4. Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
  5. Select the correct USB or network port.
  6. Click Windows Update to refresh the list of drivers.
  7. Choose the correct printer model and install the driver.

Step 5: Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit HP’s support page and download the latest drivers for your printer.
    HP Printer Firmware Update.
  • Install the drivers and restart your PC.
