After a year and a half my iMacOS 14.5 has suddenly stopped connecting with my HP 7100 series printer. Both the printer and the iMac are connecting perfectly with WiFi and the printer has continued connecting and printing with another computer.
I have tried everything suggested by both Apple and HP - going into Wi-Fi on My Settings and clicking on Networks and when the Printer details come up in the networks section I click on that and say to Connect. It asks for a W2P password and I enter the one which is given as the Password on the touch screen on the Printer. I have tried every other password associated with both the printer, the W-Fi and the computer. It will not accept any of those and therefore I keep going around in circles. I have checked 'Location' and pretty much everything else that has been suggested - turning everything off, turning on again etc. When I go into Printer in My Settings it tells me that the HP 7100 series is Idle and the default printer, but that it is Out of Paper. Can anyone help? I really need to be able to use the printer from my iMac.
Thank you!

Hi @SusabelleJones,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, but let's see if we can figure this out together. Here are a few additional steps you can try.
- Restart All Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your iMac and the HP printer.
- Forget Wi-Fi Network: On your iMac, forget the Wi-Fi network the printer is connected to. Then, reconnect to the network and try connecting to the printer again.
- Reset Printer Network Settings: On the HP printer, there may be an option to reset the network settings. This will erase any existing network configurations, allowing you to set it up again from scratch. Check the printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your HP printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually do this through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website.
- Check Firewall Settings: Sometimes, firewall settings on your iMac can block communication with the printer. Make sure that your firewall settings allow communication with the printer.
- Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your iMac is running the latest version of macOS and that all software updates are installed. Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise with outdated software.
- Try a Different Connection Method: If Wi-Fi isn't working, try connecting the printer to your iMac using a USB cable. This can help determine if the issue is related to the Wi-Fi connection or something else.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get your HP printer connected to your iMac again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
