HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I get an error message on my computer that the printer is not connected to the internet. On the printer screen there is a warning light stating NO ETHERNET connection. The printer has never been connected with an ethernet cable but this is probably why it is not looking to connect to Wi-Fi. How do I clear this warning to restore unit to WiFi connection?

I've turned the printer off and on several times along with the associated lap tops but with no success.

Hi @moniry,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To clear the "NO ETHERNET connection" warning on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 and restore it to a Wi-Fi connection, you can follow these steps.

  • Turn off the Printer: Make sure the printer is turned on.
  • Access the Printer Control Panel: You can do this by either using the physical control panel on the printer or through the embedded web server.
  • Physical Control Panel: If you're using the physical control panel, tap the "Setup" or "Settings" button on the printer (it might vary depending on your model) to access the printer settings.
  • Embedded Web Server: To access the printer's web interface, you'll need to know the printer's IP address. You can usually find this information on a network configuration page printed from the printer. Open a web browser on a computer or device connected to the same Wi-Fi network, enter the printer's IP address in the browser's address bar, and press Enter.
  • Navigate to Network Settings:
  • Physical Control Panel: Use the arrow keys on the printer's control panel to navigate to the "Network" or "Wireless" settings. Look for an option to set up a wireless connection.
  • Embedded Web Server: In the web interface, navigate to the "Network" or "Wireless" section. You may need to enter a username and password if prompted.
  • Select Wi-Fi Connection: Choose the option that allows you to set up a Wi-Fi connection. It might be labeled as "Wireless Setup," "Wi-Fi Setup," or something similar.
  • Follow the On-Screen Instructions: The printer will guide you through the process of connecting to your Wi-Fi network. You'll need to select your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and enter the Wi-Fi password.
  • Confirm the Connection: After entering the Wi-Fi credentials, the printer will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Make sure the printer successfully connects.
  • Test the Connection: After the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, send a test print or try to print from your computer to ensure that the connection is restored.
  • Check for Error Messages: If the "NO ETHERNET connection" warning has cleared, and you can print over Wi-Fi, you have successfully restored the connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
