Hi @Vic777
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E0 error code on an HP ENVY 6055e printer typically indicates a problem with the ink cartridges or the cartridge installation. Even though you mentioned that the cartridges are new, there could still be a few issues preventing them from being recognized properly. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve the E0 error code.
1. Check Cartridge Installation
Sometimes, a cartridge might not be seated correctly, which can cause errors like the E0 code. Make sure the cartridges are properly installed:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it for safety.
- Open the cartridge access door to reveal the ink cartridges.
- Carefully remove the new cartridges from the printer.
- Inspect the cartridges for any packaging material, such as plastic tape or protective covers that might have been left on the ink nozzles or electrical contacts. Be sure to remove these.
- Reinstall the cartridges and make sure they are securely seated in their slots.
2. Check for Cartridge Compatibility
Even if the cartridges are new, there may be a compatibility issue with your specific model.
- Verify the part numbers of the cartridges are correct for your HP ENVY 6055e printer. Refer to the printer's manual or the HP website to make sure you're using the correct ink cartridges.
- HP printers often require genuine HP ink cartridges, so if you're using third-party cartridges, it could trigger compatibility issues. Ensure the cartridges are genuine HP ones.
3. Clean the Cartridges and Contacts
Dirty or obstructed electrical contacts can cause the printer to not recognize the ink cartridges properly.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge itself and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
- Do not use water to clean the contacts. If needed, use isopropyl alcohol on a cloth, but make sure the contacts are completely dry before reinserting the cartridges.
4. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions
Sometimes, paper jams or other obstructions can trigger errors like E0.
- Open the cartridge access door and make sure there’s nothing blocking the cartridge carriage.
- Check inside the printer for any paper jams, foreign objects, or anything that might be interfering with the printer's movement or the cartridge installation.
5. Reset the Printer
Performing a reset can sometimes clear errors like the E0 code if they’re related to a software glitch.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for at least 30 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Test the printer again to see if the E0 error is resolved.
6. Update Printer Firmware
If the printer firmware is outdated, it may have bugs that prevent it from recognizing new cartridges properly.
- Check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.
- Follow the instructions on the HP website to update the printer's firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
