Hi @Les135,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 3772 printer is showing a flashing amber light on the third button from the right and has stopped printing, while still being able to copy, it indicates a problem with the printer. The flashing amber light usually signals an error or issue that needs to be addressed. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

**1. Check the Printer Manual

  • Refer to your printer’s manual for specific information about the amber light codes. The manual should have details on what the flashing amber light signifies.

**2. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

**3. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the paper input tray and the rear access door (if applicable) to check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Carefully remove any jammed paper or debris you find.

**4. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly and securely.
  • Remove and reseat the cartridges to ensure they are properly connected.
  • Check the ink levels through the printer’s control panel or software. If ink levels are low, replace the cartridges with new ones.

**5. Inspect the Printer’s Exterior

  • Check if there are any external obstructions or issues, such as foreign objects in the printer.

**6. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
  • Ensure your printer drivers are up-to-date. Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website and install them on your computer.

**7. Perform Printer Maintenance

  • Use any built-in diagnostic tools available through the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app to identify and resolve issues.
  • If you suspect print quality issues, clean the printhead through the printer’s maintenance menu.

**8. Check Printer Connections

  • Ensure all cables are securely connected to the printer and the computer. If using a wireless connection, ensure the printer is properly connected to the Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
