Hi @dtrabbie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e has a strong Wi-Fi connection but isn’t connecting to your iPhone or Mac. Let’s go through a few steps to sort this out.

Verify Network Connection
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone and Mac.
You can check the printer’s network status by printing a Network Configuration Page from the control panel.
If the printer is connected to a “Guest” network or a different band (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz), switch all devices to the same one.

Restart Devices
Turn off your printer, iPhone, and Mac.
Wait for 30 seconds, then power them back on — start with the router, then printer, then devices.
This refreshes network connections and clears temporary glitches.

Check for AirPrint Support
The 8130e supports AirPrint natively.
On your iPhone or Mac, ensure you’re using the Print option in apps (like Safari, Notes, or Preview) — it should automatically detect the printer if it’s on the same network.
No extra drivers are needed for AirPrint.

Update Firmware and Software
On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer to check for firmware updates.
On your iPhone and Mac, make sure iOS/macOS is up to date.

Check Printer’s AirPrint Status
From the printer’s Embedded Web Server (enter the printer’s IP address in your web browser), go to Network > AirPrint and ensure AirPrint is enabled.

Reset Printing System on Mac (if needed)
On your Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
If the printer appears but won’t print, right-click (or control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset Printing System, then re-add the printer.

Disable VPN or Firewalls Temporarily
If you’re using a VPN on your iPhone or Mac, turn it off temporarily — VPNs can block local network discovery.
Ensure that your router or security software isn’t blocking AirPrint traffic.

Try Wi-Fi Direct (as a Test)
Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer from its control panel.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and connect directly to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network.
Try printing — this helps confirm if the issue is with the network or the printer.

I hope this helps.
