Hi @me3186

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

1. Check Printer Status and Connectivity

  • Check if the printer's display shows any error messages (like out of paper, low ink, or offline).
  • Ensure all cables are securely plugged in if you're using a USB connection. If it's a wireless printer, ensure it's connected to the Wi-Fi network.

Check Printer Queue:

  • Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the queue. To check:
    1. Windows: Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer and select See what's printing. If there are any stuck jobs, right-click and Cancel them.
    2. Mac: Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Select your printer and click Open Print Queue. Cancel any stuck print jobs.

2. Ensure the Printer is Set as Default

  • Windows:
    1. Open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
    2. Ensure your HP ENVY 4512 is selected as the Default Printer.
  • Mac:
    1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Make sure your HP ENVY 4512 is selected in the printer list.

3. Check Ink and Paper

  • Ink Levels: Ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed and have enough ink.
    • If ink is low or empty, replace the cartridges with new ones.
  • Paper: Ensure there is enough paper loaded in the paper tray, and that the paper isn't jammed.

4. Check for Printer Errors

Look for any error messages or flashing lights on the printer’s display panel.

  • If you see an error message (e.g., paper jam, cartridge issue), follow the printer’s instructions to clear the issue.
  • If there is a paper jam, open the printer's access panel and gently remove any paper stuck inside.

5. Check Printer Driver and Software

  • Driver Update: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Ensure your printer driver is up-to-date:
    1. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP ENVY 4512.
    2. Reinstall the Printer Driver: Sometimes reinstalling the printer driver helps resolve issues.
  • Printer Software: If you are using HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant software, make sure it's updated. You can reinstall the HP software if necessary.

6. Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Restart the Printer: Turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Restart the Computer: A simple restart can resolve many issues related to printing.

7. Run Printer Troubleshooter (Windows Only)

  1. Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  2. Select Printer and then click Run the troubleshooter.
  3. Follow the prompts to detect and fix any issues.

8. Check Network (for Wireless Printing)

  • Check the Wi-Fi connection on the printer’s display (you may need to access the settings on the printer to check this).
  • If needed, reconnect the printer to the network using the printer's display or the HP Smart App.

Test the Network: Ensure your computer or device is on the same network as the printer.

  • You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s menu to confirm it’s connected to the correct network.

9. Check for Firmware Updates

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
