Hi @vintomel,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the network settings on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 have been locked by an administrator. Here’s how you can address this issue.

Access the Printer's Control Panel:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Settings or Setup menu.

Enter Admin Password:

  • You may be prompted to enter an administrator password. If you do not have this password, you will need to contact the person who set it up or refer to your printer’s manual for guidance.

Reset Network Settings (if possible):

  • If you can access the network settings, look for an option to Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings. This will clear any existing configurations and might help you reconnect to a new network.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you can’t access the settings directly on the printer, try using the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device. Sometimes, the app can help you manage network settings and resolve connection issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @vintomel,

Thank you for your response,

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 printer is offline in the app and you're having trouble restoring factory settings without a password, here’s a general method to try.

Hard Reset: Perform a hard reset by unplugging the printer from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in. This often resets the printer's settings and may bring it back online.

Control Panel Reset:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings.
  • Look for Printer Maintenance or Setup options.
  • There should be an option for Restore Factory Defaults or Reset. If prompted for a password, try leaving it blank or enter "0000" as some printers default to this.

Network Reset:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings.
  • Go to Network or Wireless Settings.
  • Look for Restore Network Settings or similar. This will reset the network settings and may help in reconnecting it to your WiFi.

Using HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart App on your device.
  • Go to Printer Settings and look for Manage Printer or Printer Maintenance.
  • Try accessing the Restore or Reset options from the app.

Check Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware issues can cause connectivity problems. You can check for updates on HP’s official website or through the HP Smart App.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
